About The Over-Comers, NFPMinister Lorraine Yvonne Bogan's ministry began in 1978. Since then, she has used her 20 + years of experience to mentor, counsel, and transform the negative behaviors of hundreds of children, youth, individuals, and families to positive and productive behaviors. In October 1992, Lorraine Y. Bogan began The Safe Haven by recruiting young men on Chicago's South Side streets and Robert Taylor Housing Projects to join a basketball ministry. Over 40 young males arrived the first day. Several weeks later, a female program that included 30 young girls began. In just two weeks of starting The Safe Haven, Lorraine Y. Bogan was helping 70 young people between ages 10 to 23. Recognition for the program has been received from Sun-Times' columnist Mark Brown, ABC-7 News, Channel 2 News, and CNN.
